The International Student Travel Confederation (ISTC) carries out the following services on behalf of its members:

• Provide products, services through a worldwide network that can facilitate the movement of young people wishing to embark on educational travel
• Work in conjunction with the International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and Student Air Travel Association (SATA) in providing global benefits, student flights & proof of ID for young travellers
• Provide support for the global network of leading student travel organisations by exploring and developing new opportunities within international higher education
• Create opportunities for better management of the retailing of education services and to engage providers in the ISTC community product and distribution channels
